A fine savour on simple pleasures

My aim is to reduce the tension in my mind by sharing my thoughts and experiences in the things that I love; which I could not express openly due to circumstances. Be it in doing stupid things, experimenting on new recipes, failings in research work, writings..just some doodle ranting stuff

Assam House, Ipoh, Perak

Assam House~ The best asian cuisine in town! (their logo of some sort) XD

Reaching Ipoh on a mere intention to attend a friend's wedding last Sunday turns into a foodie galore a week ago :D In the evening of our stay in Ipoh, we looked for halal out-of-the-ordinary restaurants..there's supposed to be 2 of em; the Assam house and the CU restaurant..Prior to embarking on our journey from Seri Kembangan to this said area, we furiously read restaurant reviews here and there to get a clue as to what delicacy of extraordinaire that could be sampled at this place alone. Takkan jenjalan jauh2 nak sental mamak gak kan hoho..

First we looked for CU restuarant at Greenwood 5, but to no avail. Just opposite of this road we managed to get our ass to Assam House. This place is famed for its chinese-thai based halal cooking. So, to foodies who love sourish salty and sweet congregation will definitely fall in love with this place :) It seemed to be operated by chinese owners. Hence, to be able to see a big halal logo at the front entrance makes us feel really good.

The place is very Very VERY crowded! It seems that this restaurant is very popular among the chinese townfolk..I could also observe some muslims enjoying their meal here. Most of the table ordered a big fish head curry claypot style. It's pretty humongous! I dont think these two tummies are professional enough to be able to consume extravagant substrates to that extend..we waited for 10 mins to get a table.

Dim condition to set the mood..

Since we dont really know what good, we've been bugging this nice aunty waitress with lotsa questions and opinions. Then we settled for 3 types of dish with plain rice and a cup of herbal tea and chinese tea.

The nice aunty gave a generous portion of rice to my hubby! so nice of her..although its rather unnecessary coz both of us don't eat that much rice..later it'll become a waste when not fully consumed.

Dinner was served exactly after 7 mins! Imagine that! Holiao! (thumbs up!)

Nonya style chicken. (i think) +-RM13-14 (s)

This delicious treat is a complement of savoury crispiness with sourish sweet yet tangy shredded young mango. The chicken was actually debone, floured and dip fried prior to be assembled with the refreshing sauce.

Sweet and Sour Prawn

Synonym to its name, it is weet and sour..i think there's a thinge of molasses to give a a slight dark color. We took the small size, about 5 shrimps present, +-RM18-19. Can't really remember.

Delicious Homemade tofu in soy sauce. +-RM9 (s)

This gooey goodness with floating straw mushrooms and a soft taste of light soy sauce with garlic was an extreme delight! The combi of the tofu's silken softness with crunchy bean and carrots brings out the best of the other dish especially the chicken dish. It was marvelous. It was satisfying. It was really really REALLY good.

Look at that! Silken beauty! *salivating again* heeee..

So as a conclusion, my hubby and i did manage to finish up everything after 20 mins of eating. haha. That's pretty fast ait? XD And of course, after this when I'm en route to ipoh, i'll definitely drop by to taste this hidden jewel.
